Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) at Curaden
Finally, MFA finds its way to Curaden. You probably know MFA of 2FA (Two Factor Authentication) from Amazon via SMS or online banking with token codes besides your password.
We are starting with MFA for all external access to our infrastructure. This includes Citrix, Webex (with telephone), Webmail, Asana and some more.
Our service provider provides several options to use.
- SMS to mobile phone (IMPORTANT if you want to use the password reset self service)
- Microsoft Authenticator Application on your business or personal smartphone (only available after the registration via phone)
- Hardware token in the size of a credit card
(Only available on request. If the device is lost, we need to charge SFr. 20.- for a new one)
Concerns about the usage of the personal / private mobile phone
There are no privacy issues when you're using the authenticator application on your personal mobile phone since:
- the app does not store any business OR private information
- there is no data exchange between the app and your phone
- you only use a very small amount of data volume (about 1MB/month)
